Our Clients on Mobile Last Year
Do you remember the first time you laid eyes on an iPhone back in 2007? One of your initial thoughts may have been “Wow, I can’t ever see consumers accessing my website on this little thing!”… Don’t worry, we thought the same thing! Oh, how wrong we all were… According to leading web intelligence site SimilarWeb, mobile now accounts for over 65% of all website traffic and this figure is only growing by the day.
Last year, we saw our clients’ results from mobile skyrocket – with some sites seeing in excess of 80% of their total leads coming from smartphones. Crazy, huh?
Big numbers on small screens
Here’s just a few of the ways we can keep your mobile users in mind:
- Mobile-first website experiences (it’s no longer enough to just have a “mobile-friendly” site. To maximise ROI, your site should be designed with all screen sizes in mind)
- Close attention to conversion rates and cost per conversion across all devices
- Consideration of mobile-specific search, display, video and social ad formats
- Including “near me” keywords in search ads
- Relevant structured markup optimised for voice search
- Messenger bots, live chat and other mobile lead magnets
- Mobile commerce solutions eg. Selling through Facebook Messenger
- Progressive web apps and smartphone notifications strategies
- Content load speed improvements via new technologies like Google AMP and Facebook Instant Articles
- Cross-device analytics and conversion attribution
- Emails that look nice and pretty on mobile
- And the list keeps growing…
Mobile is here and we’re here to help you tackle it.close [x]

A "Cool" Websitefor Mobile-firstnewageair.com.au
NewAge Air Conditioning & Heating
We’d already used Google, Facebook and email marketing to help build up this clients’ business over a number of years. Come 2018, the site we built for NewAge Air back in 2013 was still ranking and delivering stronger results than ever. However, we knew we needed to stay ahead of the pack in the competitive air conditioning industry.
With most of the traffic coming from mobile devices, we decided to design with a style almost like a native mobile app. Traffic and sales are higher than ever and this market-leader’s customers have a smooth, modern web experience to enjoy!

Traffic Throughthe Roof!www.turnbullhill.com.au
Turnbull Hill Lawyers
This beast of a website was already producing outstanding results for the firm thanks to years of hard work. However, it was looking tired and was never built to handle today’s multi-screen world. Our primary objectives were to develop a more modern experience across all devices which would retain and grow conversion rates and traffic levels. It’s always a challenge to migrate a content-heavy website away from an outdated CMS with numerous technical issues. This project was a long and tricky one and we really had to hustle to protect the long term Google visibility built up from years of great SEO work.
We’re stoked to report that conversion rates and organic traffic have both shot through the roof since launching the new and improved version of www.turnbullhill.com.auclose [x]
Our New Websitevicinity.marketing
Our own site!
Funnily enough, doing our own marketing has always seemed to take a back seat to client work. That meant that the new version of vicinity.marketing was probably the longest, drawn-out project we’ve ever completed.
We wanted our site to better reflect our brand personality and the values we hold as a business. We think the new site goes alright. What do you reckon?

What is a “Smart” website?
Honestly? A “smart website” is just a bit of wanky marketing terminology we made up – sorry, we couldn’t think of anything else that was short and punchy at the time of writing! What we’re really trying to say is that when we’re involved in your project, the focus won’t only be on designing a pretty new website. We’ll be looking for ways to create business efficiencies and better experiences for your site users.
This may mean a number of things – an integration with your booking system, a cleaner conversion funnel and push notifications on mobile devices, or even an advanced analytics implementation to help trigger smoother digital journeys for your prospects.
Whatever “smart” means for you, let’s achieve it together.

Marketing Project Support
Marketing Project Support
Bad Habit: Never finishing a cup of coffee!
Friends and colleagues would describe her as dedicated, resourceful and bossy – in the best ways possible.
Some may call it separation anxiety, but we think this tenacious woman learned these fantastic traits from a lifetime of competitive gymnastics and her eight years of employment at one of Australia’s leading grocery retailers.
Before graduating from UoN with a Bachelor of Business majoring in Marketing and Management (no biggie), she started working in the marketing industry with a high-end Australian fashion retailer in Sydney. While most students were at Kingers every Wednesday night and eating smashed avo at a trendy cafe on the weekend, Sinead was studying full time and commuting to Sydney multiple times per week.
After her OTT, Novocastrian use of words was gawked at by colleagues, she came to realise that you can take the girl out of Newcastle, but, you can’t take Newcastle out of the girl, and quickly moved back to Newy to pursue #agencylife. See, we weren’t mucking around when we said she’s tenacious.
Sinead spent 2017 – 2018 freelancing and working with a couple of reputable digital agencies in her hometown. Today, Sinead’s role at Vicinity consists of using her masterful bossiness to keep internal projects (and Dave) moving forward, as well as helping our account managers with a little bit of everything for marketing.
Throw her an inch, and watch her run a mile.
In her spare time, you will find her: eating hash browns, freelancing, working at Woolies (why stop, she’s almost up for long service leave), drinking coffee, exercising and traveling – in that order.
What drives this strong, super sassy lass forward?
Undoubtedly, Sinead loves taking a project from zero to hero. In her words, “seeing a small idea transform into a huge project, and then into a masterpiece of an event – the satisfaction is just strangely euphoric”.close [x]

Website Marketing FAQs
What is a conversion on a website?
Great question! Marketing lingo can often become a little confusing.
A website conversion is when a visitor to your website takes an action you desire. This can include clicking the call button, signing up for a newsletter or purchasing a product. Conversions are unique to every client and website, and, there can definitely be more than one!
A conversion, however, is different to your website conversion rate. This is the number of desired actions take (conversions), divided by the number of visitors to your site. This number can change frequently, especially if you provide a product or service that is seasonal in nature.
How can I increase my websites conversion rate?
So you desperately want to improve your website conversions? Good news is, this can be achieved much easier than it first seems. A lot of the time, it comes down to the user experience (UX). If the user of your website gets frustrated, it’s likely that they won’t convert. Make sure your website is easy to navigate, loads fast, has relevant content (including text, images and video), and most importantly, make sure that your desired action is easy to SEE! Using buttons such as “add to bag” or “sign up” practically beg your visitor to click on them. Make sure your button is easy on the eyes though. No one likes to tap something that doesn’t look good!
How to increase website sales conversions
Is your “subscribe” Google Analytics goal showing great results, but you just can’t manage to increase your website sales conversions?
One of the best things you can do is to check you actually have a goal in place, and, make sure it’s SMART – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and, Time-Based. This is your first step to achieving more conversions! You can only change and improve upon goals that you are actively monitoring.
Secondly, you need to ensure that you are targeting the right people with the right message! The key to increasing sales conversions is increasing the amount of relevant traffic. Once you achieve this, figure out what promotional offer appeals to your audience and, voila! Hello conversions.
How can I get more visitors to my website?
Increasing traffic to your website starts with our good friend, SEO. Optimising your website for google in order to land a top place on a Google search is a great, free source of traffic. In order to achieve this, you need to have a great website that Google likes, along with all the right keywords so you actually appear in searches. Activity such as blogging, developing high quality backlinks and ensuring all of your metadata is up to date will also help drive your organic traffic .With over 50% of internet usage now occurring on the run, a mobile responsive website is also a must!
Also, never forget to engage on social media. Simple things like word-of-mouth can travel a long way!
Can Google Analytics track conversions?
Absolutely it can! Google Analytics is incredible when it comes to tracking goals and conversions. It allows you to track how long a person stays on your website as well as how many pages they visit. You can also set up a destination goal to trigger when someone lands on a specific page. For example, you can track a visitor who completes a purchase by setting up the ‘thank you for your order’ page as your destination goal.
